The adventure begins at 08:30 a.m. with a 4WD departure from Riohacha to Manaure, where we will take a guided tour of the Wayuu artisanal salt mines. There you will learn about the ancestral process of collecting salt and the economic importance of this practice for the local communities.
We continue our journey to Uribia, known as the indigenous capital of Colombia, and then we begin the approximately two-hour drive along a desert road to Cabo de la Vela, where we will enjoy a typical Guajiro lunch.
In the afternoon, we explore some of the most emblematic sites of Cabo de la Vela:
Dinner and lodging in a Wayúu ranchería, in chinchorros or beds according to preference.
After breakfast (07:00 a.m.), we depart for Punta Gallinas, crossing some of the wildest and most remote landscapes of Colombia. On the way we visit the Jepírachi Wind Park, the first in the country, then we will arrive at Bahía Portete and Bahía Honda, two impressive sea inlets between cliffs and mangroves.
We have lunch at a local inn before continuing to one of the most iconic points of the trip, the Taroa Dunes. Here you will be able to:
We ended the day at the Casares viewpoint and watched the sunset from the Punta Gallinas lighthouse, the northernmost point in all of South America.
Dinner and lodging in a Wayuu lodge in Punta Gallinas.
After breakfast (07:00 a.m.), we visit two little explored beaches, La Boquita beach, ideal for a serene walk and Punta Aguja beach, with rocky views and emerald waters.
We start our return to Uribia, where we have lunch, and then continue to Riohacha, with estimated arrival around 3:00 p.m..
