The adventure to Cabo de la Vela begins at 08:30 a.m., departing from Riohacha to the municipality of Manaure, located approximately one hour away. There we take a guided walk through the Manaure Salt Flats, where a local Wayuu guide explains the traditional process of salt extraction, one of the most important economic and cultural practices of the region.
We then continue our journey to Uribia, considered the indigenous capital of Colombia, where it is possible to see the contrasts between the urban and the ancestral. From there, we will take a two-hour drive through the desert to Cabo de la Vela, in the heart of the Wayuu territory.
Upon arrival, we will enjoy a typical Guajiro lunch, with fresh local products and native flavors. In the afternoon, we explore some of the most beautiful and spiritual sites of the cape:
We end the day with a spectacular sunset from the lighthouse, one of the most photogenic spots in northern Colombia. In the evening, dinner is served and you stay in a traditional Wayuu lodge, with hammocks and indigenous hospitality.
After breakfast, we visit the charming Playa Ojo de Agua, known for its tranquility, turquoise waters and spiritual significance in the Wayuu cosmovision. There you can enjoy a relaxing swim and take the last photos of this magical corner of the desert.
At the end of the morning, we return to Riohacha, with an estimated arrival around noon, concluding an unforgettable experience in the extreme north of Colombia.
